Illinois Adds Gambling Disorder to State Addiction Law, Unlocking New Treatment Options
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed Senate Bill 2749 on July 25, 2026, formally adding gambling disorder to the state's Substance Use Disorder Act. The law unlocks standalone state-funded inpatient treatment for the first time in a state where over one million residents face gambling addiction risk and residents lost $7.7 billion gambling last year.
